Health Skills

Learn how to support students and encourage them to maintain healthy behaviors, change unhealthy behaviors, and delay the onset of risky behaviors.

Visit the RMC Health Resources and Tools page to access a variety of downloadable resources related to providing health education in schools. The Health Skills models are aligned with the National Health Education Standards and Indicators. Models for grade spans PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 focusing on the skills of analyzing influences, accessing valid and reliable resources,  interpersonal communication, decision-making, goal-setting, self-management, and advocacy for self and others. Through consistent practice, students will be better able to implement these skills in a variety of settings beyond the classroom. These skill models can be used in health education and across the curriculum in various content areas.
