The Healthy School Champions Program recognizes Colorado schools for their success at creating a healthy school environment and implementing effective school health efforts. The program celebrates schools that have excelled at creating health and wellness programs that support student learning. In 2017, 46 Colorado schools were award winners.
This magazine highlights how these schools demonstrate the critical link between student health and academic achievement. In 2017, Manitou Springs School District 14 was recognized with the Platinum Governor’s Award for School Health and Wellness for embedding health as a core component of their mission, vision, policies, and instructional model.
