CEI has partnered with the Colorado Developmental Disabilities Council (CDDC) to facilitate trainings and build a community of support for families and caregivers to help them navigate the education system in ways that set students up for success and could prevent suspension and expulsion, especially those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The trainings and this group are designed to assist families and caregivers through: -Deeper understanding of the fundamental pillars of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and how to navigate each of them. -Increased awareness of the impacts of suspension/expulsion for special education students. -Expanded strategies for engaging in collaborative advocacy.
