Colorado Collaboration Reaches Far and Brings Health Home

At the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, my colleagues and I provide quality training, resources, and technical assistance to schools and communities across the country. Being on the HSSS PD Team with some of my colleagues has allowed us to dive more deeply into our local work and collaboratively implement successful large-scale initiatives that address whole-child health in our home state of Colorado.

When working at the national level, it can be difficult to identify local needs to align health programming for long-term success. Serving on the PD Team with Healthier Generation colleagues and members of partner organizations has provided the space necessary to gather insight into the needs and interests of those on the front lines of school health in my community. For example, the connections fostered through my participation on the PD Team have led to me having the opportunity to deliver training at Colorado Healthy Schools Coordinator and SHAPE CO meetings on topics such as family engagement.

Providing these training sessions not only allowed me to collaborate more closely with district and school health leaders, but enabled my organization to adapt local feedback into national training content. I am thankful to the PD Team for providing the time and space to regularly connect, collaborate, and improve with others in diverse areas of expertise to effectively support the health of our Colorado community members.
