Parks as Equitable Resources for Youth Physical Activity, Especially Now

This webinar reviews the importance of children and adolescents achieving 60 minutes of daily physical activity, and how parks, trails, and park programs play a vital role. The presenters capture how closures of these resources due to COVID-19 propose challenges, and how communities can navigate closures to ensure children and adolescents still have the opportunity to obtain adequate physical activity each day.

The third presenter also shares what Mecklenburg County, NC is doing to ensure equitable access to park programs through county-wide opportunities, such as scholarships.

Overall, this webinar provides a robust overview, using a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion, of the necessity for parks and trails in helping to ensure children and adolescents receive the daily recommended amount of physical activity.
